‘World Environment Day’ observed: Theme was ‘Zero tolerance for the illegal trade in wildlife’
On 5th June 2016, WED (World Environment Day) was celebrated across the globe. The theme of this day was ‘Zero tolerance for the illegal trade in wildlife’. The day aims to inspire more and more people in taking appropriate action towards prevention of the failure of natural systems of the Earth. The Earth has reached a breaking point in terms of natural resources and natural ecosystem depletion and this day is a reminder of making appropriate strategies to prevent further harm. This year’s WED was hosted in Angola. The slogan for this year is “Go Wild for Life” wherein citizens are encouraged to spread the grave issue of wildlife crime.
