France’s former Prime Minister Michel Rocard dies

Michel Rocard, France’s former Prime Minister died on 2nd July 2016. He died at his Paris residence in France. He was of 5 years of age. Rocard was France’s Prime Minister between 1988 and 1991, under the presidency of Francois Mitterrand. Michel was born in Courbevoie on 23rd August 1930. His first stint into politics was as the student leader. Soon he became the chairperson of the FSS (French Social Students). Furthermore, he led the PSU (Unified Socialist Party) between 1967 and 1974. Additionally, Michel has worked as Agriculture Minister, Planning and Territorial Development Minister under the presidency of Mitterrand.

2016 BRICS Youth-Summit held

The 2016 BRICSYS (BRICS Youth Summit) concluded on 3rd July 2016 at Guwahati, Assam. The theme was this year’s summit was ‘Young as bridge for Intra-BRICS exchanges). The summit was a 3 day event and was started on 1st July 2016. Apart from the general members of the BRICS, each country’s young delegates also participated in the event. The Summit was concluded with many recommendations. Recommendations came for creating and strengthening the apprentices programs across the present BRICS institutions. Additionally, it also recommended for documenting and disseminating the various success stories across BRICS nations.

BS Praneeth won the 2016 COGP (Canada Open Grand Prix) Men’s Singles Badminton title

Indian shuttler BS Praneeth won the 2016 COGP (Canada Open Grand Prix) Men’s Singles Badminton title on 3rd July 2016. He defeated Korea’s Lee Hyun-1 by 21-12, 21-10 to clinch the title. Furthermore, BS Reddy and Manu Attri (Men’s doubles pair) won the Men’s doubles trophy at the COGP tournament. The COGP is a famous international sports event that started in 1957 and is being held every year in Canada.

India’s first CCDR (Commercial Court & Disputes Resolution) Centre launched in Chhattisgarh

India’s first CCDR (Commercial Court & Disputes Resolution) Centre was launched in Chhattisgarh on 2nd July 2016. Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Dr. Raman as well as SCI (Supreme Court of India) Justice M B Lokus inaugurated the center. Additionally, the court will act as meditation and arbitration center. Furthermore, the facilities available in this center include e-court, e-library, video-conferencing, e-summons and e-filing.

Haryana to develop NIT (New Industrial Township)

Government of Haryana on 2nd July 2016 made an announcement to develop an ITA (Industrial Township Area). The total budget for this new township is expected to be $5 Billion. This industrial township will cover an area of more than 1500 land acres across the Gurgaon’s Manesar and Sohna areas. For this project, a MoU (memorandum of understanding) was signed between the HSIIDC (Haryana Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation) and CFLD (China Fortune Land Development) in the nation’s capital. Furthermore, the agreement will see a joint venture between the above two companies for the execution of this project. Additionally, CFLD will be responsible for industrial units, infrastructural facilities as well as commercial and residential projects for the township. The timeline for project completion is 10 years.
