Lewis Hamilton won the 2016 Austrian Grand-Prix
Lewis Hamilton became the champion of 2016 Austrian Grand-Prix on 3rd July 2016. The event took place at the Spielberg’s RB (Red Bull) Ring in Austria. Hamilton started his race from the pole. Furthermore, he collided with (Mercedes) Nico Roseberg in the last rap but overcame him to win this Grand Prix. Consequently, Roseberg came forth after Max Verstappen (TAG Heuer) and Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) respectively. The Austrian Grand-Prix is a renowned Formula-1 motor race. Furthermore, the race took place across two different places in south-eastern Austria. Nico Roseberg (Mercedes) won the Austrian Grand-Prix in 2015.
Noble Prize Winner and Holocaust Elie Wiesel passed away
Well-known Holocaust survivor and Noble Prize winner Elie Wiesel passed away in New York on 2nd July 2016. He was of 87 years age. Elie’s first book was a rendition of his family when they were sent to infamous ‘Nazi Concentration Camps’. Elie was born in Romanian and was a noted professor, writer as well as political activist. He wrote mainly in English and French. He has authored 57 books. His book ‘Night’ accounts his experiences in the Buchenwald and Auschwitz concentration camps as prisoner. He contributed towards many Jewish causes across America over the years. Furthermore, he was also responsible for the establishment of USHMM (United Stated Holocaust Memorial Museum) in Washington.
INS Tarasa, FOW-JFAC (Follow-on Water Jet Fast Attack Craft), launched by the Indian Navy
Indian Navy launched the INS Tarasa, FO-WJFAC (Follow-on Water Jet Fast Attack Craft) on 30th June 2016. It was the 4th Jet craft in series. The GRSE (Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd) launched the aircraft in India. Additionally, these jets get power by advanced MTU engines. The water jets are equipped with advanced MCS (machinery control system). Furthermore, the maximum speed limit for these water jets has been stretched to 35 knots.
Kerala government bans ‘electronic cigarettes’
On 1st June 2016, Kerala government decided on banning ‘electronic cigarettes’. The decision of banning came after various studies that revealed health disorders caused due to electronic cigarettes. Electronic cigarettes cause many health disorders including heart ailments and cancer. The additional CSH (Chief Secretary for Health) from the Kerala ministry of health will be issuing the order. This order will ban the manufacturing, sale as well as advertisement of e-cigarettes or electronic cigarettes. With this stay-order, Kerala becomes the 4th state in India to ban e-cigarettes. The 3 other states were Karnataka, Maharashtra and Punjab.
India’s first-ever Integrated DCM (Defense Communication Network) launched
India’s first-ever Integrated DCM (Defense Communication Network) was inaugurated in India on 30th June 2016. The first DCN was launched at the South Block by Manohar Parrikar (Defense Minister). Furthermore, this network will enable the Navy, the Army, the Indian Air Force as well as the SFC (Special Forces Command) to share emergency situation awareness so that the decision-making process is faster and more successful. This will be the first-ever tri-service communication as well as IT networking grid for Indian Armed Forces. Additionally, this network will have pan-India reach covering Ladakh, island territories as well as North East India.
