As you all know that SBI is going to held preliminary exam for probationary officers on 2nd., 3rd, 9th & 10th July, 2016. So we are giving here some tips to prepare for General Awareness paper. General Awareness is one such area which has troubled about 98% of the candidates who have appeared for the SBI PO exam previously. However, with certain tips in this section can become relatively easier for the candidates appearing for SBI PO Exam 2016.
#Tip 1- Reading Newspaper daily is a boon
The best way to deal with the General Awareness section is to be regular with it. Newspaper is the best mode of learning about the recent developments taking place in India and outside India. If you do this regularly for 5-6 months, you would have already covered about 80% of your general awareness syllabus.

#Tip 2- Last 6 months are important
Most of the questions are asked from the last 6 months. Examiners usually expect candidates to be well aware about the recent developments and this is why questions on recent events fills up a majority of the questions from this section.
#Tip 3- Questions related to the banking industry
It is obvious that when a candidate is appearing for a banking exam, most of the awareness questions would be asked from the banking sector. Questions such as Governor of the RBI, current Repo Rate, etc., are very common. Additionally, questions in terms new policies launched by the banks can also be asked.
#Tip 4- Take a note of the new committees being formed
Questions on committees are among the favourites of the examiner. Usually 1-2 questions are asked from this year in every paper. A candidate must be well aware of the recent committees that have been either set up by the Government or by the RBI.
#Tip 5- Remember the venues of recent World Summits
Every day or the other, there are certain world summits being held in some corner of the world. Your lookout should be to target the ones where financial interest is present along with India’s participation. If India has recently entered into a partnership with a certain nation with respect to investment, then the same should also be taken into consideration.
#Tip 6- Stop Guessing
A lot of candidate think that they can score good marks in General Awareness through a fluke. It is almost impossible to do so as the questions are prepared with a view to test a student’s knowledge. You can get lucky with 1-2, but in overall you will end up answering 7-8 incorrectly. It is better to skip questions, rather than playing the guessing game.

#Tip 7- Take help from Social Media

#Tip 9- Update yourself on a daily basis
It is impossible to mug up General Awareness in a day or two. You require consistency and dedication to gain an upper hand in this section. It may be painful for the first few days, but then you would start enjoying it gradually.

#Tip 10- Go through simple banking terms
In quest of making your General Awareness strong, do not forget to go through simple banking terms and operations. You should be well versed with the rules and regulation made by the banking units for the common men.
